Operation of Central Stores
Central Stores is established for the purpose of stocking and issuing those supplies which are commonly used by the various offices and departments throughout the University. Items stocked are generally procured on contract, usually at a savings. Prices are subject to change without prior notice.
Orders are usually filled and ready for pick up within 24 hours of receipt. Orders may take longer, especially during May, June, and August when the volume of orders received at Central Stores is often triple the normal demand.
Deliveries of unusually large or heavy orders are made each Friday between 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Orders for delivery on campus must be made no later than 10:00 a.m. each Friday for that week. It is important to permit the delivery personnel to continue other deliveries, rather than to delay them while a detailed inspection of delivered supplies is being made. In the event of a shortage, call Central Stores at 501-882-7436 within 24 hours with any discrepancies. Corrections and appropriate credits will be made at that time.
Deliveries for ASU-Heber Springs and ASU-Searcy will be via courier service. Orders for such deliveries will be streamline processed but should still be allowed extra time for handling and transportation.
"Walk-thru" emergency orders are filled daily 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. These "Walk-thru" orders will be limited to 5 items or less.
When departments require larger than normal quantities of stocked items, Central Stores requires approximately four weeks notice prior to the required issue date or the requesting department may order the item direct with an interdepartmental requisition. This is to insure sufficient stock will be available to fill the requirement and not disrupt service to other Central Stores customers.
