ASU-Searcy Campus Goals
In order to implement the mission, the University has established the following campus goals:
To strengthen, expand, and maintain vocational/technical education programs so that individuals will have an opportunity to obtain employment skills in occupations for which there is an identified need for paid employment.
To provide some programs that, through written cooperative arrangement between schools and employers, teach vocational/technical skills by alternating related study in school, on-the-job training, and internship training.
To improve state and local efforts to plan, administer, supervise, and evaluate vocational/technical educational and vocational options.
To provide vocational/technical orientation, guidance, and counseling to enable all students to have a greater understanding of educational and vocational options.
To initiate new programs of vocational/technical education so that innovative techniques and curricula may be developed to meet the needs of changing industry, technology, and new emerging occupations.
To provide pre-service and in-service training for vocational education teachers, supervisors, and teacher educators to improve the quality of instruction, supervision, and administration of vocational/technical education.
To expand and improve vocational training programs and services for youth and adults who have special needs, including disadvantaged and handicapped students.
To provide short-term vocational training programs for adults who need and desire new training or re-training where there is an identified need for paid employment.
To develop and initiate programs to overcome and prevent discrimination and stereotyping in vocational/technical education in the areas of race, sex, and handicap, and to provide vocational/technical education programs for special target groups.
To provide educational programs, services, and activities that enable individuals to develop skills essential for functioning effectively as wage earners.
To effectively utilize the Arkansas Industry Training Program in recruiting new industry and assisting existing industry in expanding operations.
Students are encouraged to acquaint themselves with ASU-Searcy by studying the policies and procedures listed in the University catalog. While students may get assistance from administrators, counselors, and advisors, they are responsible for selecting a field of study and enrolling in the prescribed courses for that field.
